History of the Periodic TableThe things around us are subjected to various changes. The physical properties of materials are different. When we build up a connection between those properties it is easy to study well.
The chemists too tried to classify the elements considering their properties from the past. The various patterns were produced from time to time. But the best pattern was introduced by a Russian scientist, Mendeleev in 1869.
He put the elements in order according to their atomic weights and it suited the experimental information. He placed the elements in horizontal lines and vertical lines. From this he was able to understand that the properties of elements vary in pattern.
When elements are placed according to the ascending order of their atomic weights some elements can be kept under some other elements with similar properties to form vertical lines.
Considering these repeating properties of elements Mendeleev prepared a table of elements .This is called as the periodic table.
Only about 60 elements were found out at the time of Mendeleev who manifested the periodic chart.About 109 elements have been found now.The modern periodic chart is prepared by modifying the Mendeleev's periodic chart. In this chart atomic number is used according to the ascending order like atomic weight.
